A book by Pastor O'Ffill which is available at Adventist Book Centers everywhere.
There are plenty of good books on prayer. This fresh survey breaks new ground. Are there any magic prayers? What about the prayer of Jabez? What about exorcism? fasting? Should we pray out loud? All night? Should we ask for signs? Expect miracles? And why does God not seem to answer?
The author discusses problems that short-circuit our prayers, and shows how God wants to do even more than we ask--often saying no to our smaller prayers so that He can say yes to our larger need.
Prayerlessness, says the author, is our greatest sin. Prayer is not a way to do "insider trading" with God in a sort of wheelin'-an'-dealin' cargo cult religion. It is not a way to persuade the Beneficent One to be beneficent. Prayer is the 'breath of the soul'. It is a lifestyle of seeking the heart of God, who gives us more than we ask for. And when with all our hearts we truly seek Him, we will surely find Him.
This primer in the area of contrition will wet your appetite for God and revitalize your prayer life. You are invited to read the Table of Contents including one chapter you can read in its entirety.
