The theme and the underlying premise on which this book is based is that the first purpose of prayer is not to get but rather to be. It is my hope that when you have finished reading, you will see the importance of putting first things first in your prayers. I pray that we all will seek first the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness. In other words, that we will be not as concerned about getting as about being all that the Lord means for us to be. "But what about my physical and material needs?" Don't worry; our Lord has promised that if we will be more concerned about being than about getting, all the other things we have tended to worry about for so long will be added unto us!
