Just returned from consultation with HIPEC surgery assessment.

Due to the significant increased growth in her pelvic region with two large tumors and other 30 plus nodes on her abdomen wall. The HIPEC surgery specialist recommended that we forgo the surgery to remove the two very large tumors in her lower pelvic area.

We started Hospice today.  The estimated EOL looks to be around 2 months give or take.

My wife is such a wonderful Christian witness... she wants to do what honors God with the rest of her life.  That is such an inspiration to me.

I have been so blessed to have her in my life.

A convenience store clerk asked me once if I played the lottery... I said why would i do that... i won the lottery 30 years ago when I married my wife...

Please pray for us both as we prepare for her going to sleep in Jesus.

with  kind regards,

Gracevessel

gracevessel,

Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your wife!  May God bless you both & give you both peace!  Just think of what a blessing it is to have faith in Christ!  What a contrast it is to those who have no faith or knowledge of God. How blessed we are!  All our earthly lives will soon be coming to a close, but what a joyous future we have!  Soon Christ will come to take us home!  We have so much to look forward to!

" But as it is written, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him."
1Co 2:9 (ISV)

GV,
I'm glad no more surgery.  She has been through enough.  I'm so sorry.

Words cannot express how badly I feel for you and your wife.

Only Jesus can give you the comfort you need...

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also."

May God bless and be with you.

Awhhh!  What a great attitude!!  And the attitude that both you and your wife are displaying now, although I'm sure hasn't come without many tears, still shows that you are both obviously "fixing your eyes on things that cannot be seen." (II Cor. 4:18).

Sorry to hear the news GV, but what a great testimony you just gave!

Her Christian witness is likely far greater than can be imagined in this life. Great will be her reward in heaven, and I am sure you are looking forward to seeing her there.

My prayers will continue to be with you and your wife.

God bless you both,

Stan

My wife has been on Hospice since Aug 31, 2011.  Her health is continuing to decline. We are finding it more difficult to get her to the hospital every 2 weeks to get her ascites removed (abdominal fluid) via parasentethis (spelling?).

Some of her family have called and voiced support. Others have not... it's a mixed bag really.  Good friends have come from out of state to celebrate her life and reminence (spelling??) about the positive and uplifthing times they've had.  When you look back over your life, (and my wife talks about this alot) you tend to look at the positive things (how God led you on your journey, and how people and the providence of God influenced your life).

Overall, her pain level is very high and the morphine and oxycodon for now are keeping it at bay.  We stay very vigiliant to make sure the small amount of food she does it... coincides with the medication to reduce stress on her stomach.

Some really good friends this weekend built a ramp up to the front door.  This will help in getting her to special transportation... etc for the fluid trip via the wheelchair.

In the county that I live in... Hospice is a hodge-podge... they server over 200 peeps with 12 beds for their Hopsice house and (bait-n-switched) me with 100 percent coverage from wifes BCBS insurance... when it comes down to it (and she needs to go to the house now)... there is a 5% chance of her getting in 12/200+... so.. with multiple an ALPHA FEMALE conflict with one of the on call nurses... and another nurse mailing it in... they probably consider me the DIABLO of care when they come to my house... I'm stuck really... first i dont have the $160 per day at this point for residential care... (really nice that they didnt cover this initially aye?).  At the end of the day I am responsible for her physical care... and it WILL GET DONE.  I've raised hell (not the curse word but the actualy definitive statement of the frustration towards them that i feel)... to make sure she got her catheter in the timely manner.  I hate being that way but at the end of the day... her care is what i must focus on and keeping her in a positive atmosphere.

My wife has lost feeling in both legs.  She is completely bed-bound and i will be moving her from the chair--- to the hospital bed this morning (very soon after i type this update). Unless we win the lottery (get a bed in the hospice house)... the remainder of her care will be here.

I know that people are praying for her to continue to have strength... and I know she loves Jesus and that brings alot of comfort.  It's definitely been a growing experience for me faith wise.  To let go of something you dearly love and adore... your spouse... it's heartwrenching (even tho you feel the Lord beside you and know he tenderly cares for you).

I must have faith that he will see me thru...

I would like to specifically thank Stan for the consistent calls and uplifting spiritual care he has provided as a true friend.  His experience is unique as mine is... and it's been a Godsend for us both to draw strength from each other during both of our journeys.   There are others that have reached out via posts and/or private emails... and I have really appreciated that also.

My wife is growing very weak. Not sure regarding the timeline at this point.  I just know that we are in the hands of Jesus and are trusting to his Mighty care..

It's given me a wake-up call regarding who really cares for you when it counts...

with kind regards,

Gracevessel

Gracevessel, I pray that God will continue to give you the strength and courage to provide the care that your wife needs, and that He will also give your wife courage, strength, peace and comfort, knowing that an eternity of joy is just before us. I can't help but remember some of the words to a beautiful song.

Someday the silver cord will break
And I no more as now shall sing
But oh the joy when I awake
In the palace of the king

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story saved by grace
And I shall see Him face to face
And tell the story saved by grace.

Gracevessel,

I second what Larry wrote and the words of that beautiful hymn.

Father
We continue to pray for our dear brother and his dear wife. May your grace continue to sustain them. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
