"True Revival: What It Is and What It's Not"
Listen to the audio at <http://www.yourvideos.net/hopevideo/cm09/skp-1.mp3>

A brief review of Dr. Samuel Pippin's audio above,  # 1 of his 5 part  series on
"Counterfeit Revivals, the Emergent Church and the New Spirituality Movements"
(A part of his larger series on Trojan Horses in the Church)
The link to his web site is <http://hopevideo.com/media_with_samuel_koranteng-pipim-2.htm>
(I linked to these previously on the "new editor for Ministry Magazine" topic)

Dr Pippin, in the beginning, talks about the original Trojan Horse & its deceptive power. He speaks about Christ's warnings in Mathew 24 against deceptions & false teachers & how they could almost deceive the very elect! Pippin states that the Devil is sliding his own Trojan Horses into the church. He says that there are many Trojans today. Some are Evolution, new forms of worship, Spiritualism (pretending to be spirituality), false revivals, & more. He speaks of the great interest in revivals today in the Christian world. He talks about the EG White statement in Great Controversy, p.424 about Satan introducing counterfeit revivals in an attempt to prevent true revival! He states that before we examine a counterfeit we must understand & examine the true! Pippin says that true revival is the work of God! He mentions several things that are not true revival, such as:

1.Because it's called a revival doesn't make it a revival
2.Talking about it not does not make a revival
3.Large crowds are not evidence of revival
4.Revival is not just a church program, not a bandwagon to jump on
5.Prayer, prayer ministry & prayer warriors are not necessarily evidence of revivals

He states that Biblical revival is not always popular & can bring polarization. Some elements of true revival are:

1.Heaven becomes real!
2.Jesus becomes real subjectively --  We experience the presence of Christ  in a personal way. He becomes the object of our personal love, affection, devotions, & desire. We fall in love with Christ all over again!
3.Jesus  becomes real objectively in us -- in lifestyle, ethics, life of obedience, life changes
4.Holy Spirit becomes real in us -- He empowers us & indwells in us!
5.Soul winning becomes real to us -- the Holy Spirit empowers us to be soul winners!

Some of the other points Dr. Pippin made are:
The meaning of Eze. 37 of dead bones coming back to life represents the revival of dead Christians & their coming back to spiritual life.

When an individual experiences this revival he expresses it. Gospel song writers have often expressed their own revival experience in the songs they write.

When there is a revival in us, we will express it & people will see something in us! Then they will want our Lord! (See Zech 8:23)

God is bringing revival to His church. Satan wants to prevent revival by sliding in Trojan Horses.

There is much more! This audio is well worth listening to! I know that I want to experience this revival!

The next audio in this series is about "The Nature Of True Spirituality -- The Walk of Holiness" at
<http://www.yourvideos.net/hopevideo/cm09/skp-2.mp3>

Does anyone have some thoughts about this?

we have a trojan horse in our church in the area and it is growing into the other churches as well....  it is taking away our most conservative types that have been looking for a higher standard...  it is called SR.. shepherd's rod   They stay in the church but their $ goes elsewhere.  They mainly speak of SOP and less and less bible, they wear hats and black clothes, they do not do any outreach or handing out literature....   They sit and wait to take over the church as a literal fulfillment of Ezekiel 9.  They are told that 'they' are the 144K and we are not.

As far as the counterfeit and the real and Satan's deceptions... we have to be so careful... we must check everything out carefully and pray that God will give discernment.  ANd, we must be careful that we so run from the counterfeit that we do not run right past the real !

we live in trying times and it is going to get rough....  keep looking up to Jesus

I have not heard much about the Shepherd's Rods for quite awhile. Back in the 1980s The were quite active. They used to sneakily  put flyers on cars on Sabbath morning during church services. I have also seen them doing that at camp meeting.

I have the series on CD.  It is well worth the cost, and should be listened to by all of our church members, in my opinion.  He covers most of the errors that have been subtly creeping into the SDA Church in recent times, and explains why they are so dangerous.

This series was given at the Michigan Campmeeting in 2009.  I don't think our conference would allow him to give a series like that here.  :-(

I'm listening to the sermon....

there is one scripture that I think he misunderstands....

Quote
Mat 24:24  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

This means that it is NOT possible to deceive the very elect.  Let's have comfort in that!!

Yes, we agree! You are most likely familiar with the following statement:

 "We are living in an age of great light; but much that is called light is opening the way for the wisdom and arts of Satan. Many things will be presented that appear to be true, and yet they need to be carefully considered with much prayer; for they may be specious devices of the enemy. The path of error often appears to lie close to the path of truth. It is hardly distinguishable from the path that leads to holiness and heaven. But the mind enlightened by the Holy Spirit may discern that it is diverging from the right way. After a while the two are seen to be widely separated.  {EG WHITE 8T 290.5}

An idea about deceiving the elect.    God elects everyone to repentance, conversion, sanctification, glorification at the Second coming.

Satan elects everyone to be lost and decide against God by disqualifying themselves and forcing God to fight against them.

The danger is that we will allow ourselves to be drawn away from the position of salvation made possible by the terms of salvation.

Then we work to destroy ourselves by putting ourselves beyond God's position of mercy, because we are all saved by His mercy.  But not IN our sins, but rather FROM our sins.

If we focus upon abiding in Jesus and through His power and  daily "vital transfusion" of Himself into us, climb "Peter's Ladder, we make our calling an election sure.

The nature of defeat brought by Trojan horses is that every gift that God has not planted gets rooted up or ripped out by the roots.

And Trojan horses are seemingly God's gifts with Satan's actual gifts inside waiting to be taken into the heart, life, church, when they are really gift wrapped painted up by Satan to look like they are from God - but really - toxic waste - begging to be treated as valuable gifts from God.   Which they never were and never will be.

Read and search the Bible and SOP and these Trojan horses are shown to be counterfeits despite their gilding and paint jobs.

Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 While it is true that God gives the message from Scripture and SOP. The taste I give to others about the message sells it or kills it, I learn to walk it well & cook it well & eat it myself, before I preach it.  Then the SDA message appeals by His righteousness.
