Arise and Light Bearers Ministries Merge
« on: May 26, 2011, 10:26:45 AM »
I have heard that David Asscherick's Arise ministries has merged with James Rafferty and Ty Gibson's Light Bearers Ministries.  There are apparantly some who feel that this was not a good idea. Has anyone heard about this?

Thanks Larry. We hadn't heard. Here is a link to Light Bearers Story on it.

That is about two hours south of us. We will be happy to have Arise in our area & wonder what their plans are. We don't know what people's concerns might be about the merger. Perhaps, it might be because Ty & James were speaking on "The Good News Tour" & some have questioned how they viewed the "Character of God" controversy. They are involved in a very good work. Maybe the merging of minds will benefit all of them & benefit God's work.

I'm seeing quite a few mergers taking place....  maybe this is a good thing...  a unity being established rather than separate ministries??   8-)

My husband and I were really happy to hear about this.  We're only about 45 minutes from where they will be based and are looking forward to see what evangelism training will be available so close to us.  We've been going to the Lightbearer's convocation for the past 3 summers and my kids have been counting down on the calender since February to when campmeeting starts.  What they provide has been head and shoulder's above what the conference provides.  I knew that D. Asscherick was speaking this summer, but had no idea ARISE was moving up here.  I'm also looking forward to hearing Dr. DeRose speak again this summer.  He was there three years ago.  As far as Ty and James, our experience is that they have been very balanced, unlike what some have claimed.  Of course they are human and not perfect and they might not articulate some topics just like someone else would.  We have never gotten the impression that they are soft on sin.  They are cognizant of the fact that it is easy to point out other people's errors without seeing the beam in our own eyes.  It's possible to be theologically correct and not have the character of Jesus.

I have heard James R. And Ty G. speak on occasion and have always appreciated their messages. As someone had pointed out, the fruit of their ministry speaks loudly. Our literature is truly being distributed like the "leaves of autumn" in many parts of the world through their ministry. I also have great respect for David Asscherick. His message is solid. He accomplished something very important and necessary with his open letter awhile back to church leaders regarding problems with some of the teaching in the science department at La Sierra. This had apprantly been well known among many Adventists, especially in Southern Calif, but David Asscherick had the courage to openly confront it.
(Concerning his preaching style, I wont go there  :-D).

I like DA's preaching style and especially do my children - they say it is easier to concentrate when he is speaking than for other preachers, and that they like the way he reiterates what he says and that he has a logical teaching style that they can follow, like a teacher taking students through a new subject.

James and Ty ....to me have always been the finest of explaining God's Love and how our response should be towards our creator. One of their best works, this is my personal belief, is their little booklet titled...Ministry of Reconciliation....anyone harboring a root of bitterness, anger etc. can find the way to heal through the reading of this booklet. David has always been on my most like to listen and watch list, he is energetic gets to the point and speaks very plainly, however i will say my vocabulary has grown since and at times, have had to consult the dictionary more than a few times.

I agree, Pamela.  I haven't read this booklet you mentioned but I have read all of Ty's books and appreciated them.

I am pretty sure that Ty and James were at one time ministered to by A. Leroy Moore, who helped restore them to the church and the work for the Lord. I believe that Dr. Moore, has a burden for doing the work of reconcilliation. I'm pretty sure he is now retired.

@Larry i do not know about L. Moore being instrumental, have followed Light
Bearers since they began and thru all the transitions from their early beginnings to of late. At times i have thought of them like the Waggoner and Jones of our time, revealing God's Love towards us with a message that has to me always been positive. For those who may be interested you can follow Arise and their perspective here:
http://arisehub.org/twice-the-light/

It is a good site and you can see how God is working.......in this merger....
