Maybe the Vatican will come to Italy's rescue. If I was the pope, thats what I would do.    He has plenty of economic resources. This would be a great opportunity for the Pope to get all of Europe beholden to him. European Sunday law? Piece of cake!

I've been watching the European situation with interest for some time, mainly because of Daniel 2.  I've been skeptical of the European Union from the beginning, mainly because of Daniel 2, but also because of the fact that the countries involved are so divergent in their cultures and philosophies.  They were trying to create a "United States" of Europe, but oil and water don't mix.  Unlike the United States of America, there is no common culture, no common language, no common ideology, no common currency (notwithstanding the efforts to get everyone to accept the Euro).  The Germans want their Mark back, and the Greeks probably prefer their Drachma.  I wonder if any European leader realizes that they've been trying to fight against a 2500 year old prophecy, which has never been defeated?

A European United States?  True, prophecy says that will never happen for they will not cleave one to another.  But prophecy does give us clues as to what will happen.

1)  The chief power that catapults the papal primacy into a force with legal and civic teeth, will be the United States (Rev. 13)

2)  The ten horns (representing the European nations and synonymous with the ten toes of Daniel 2) lost their crowns or kingly powers when the papacy lost its political power back in 1798 and republicanism/democracy began making its huge contribution to the world.
But Rev. 17 tells us ten horns will gain that kingly power for a short time, and in that time they support, or are once again under papal primacy laws, using their kingly power to enforce the goals of the great confederacy.

17:12   And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 
  17:13   These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
