Newbie we are waiting.......God Bless
Previously,
(1) we spent time praising God to get self out of our prayers and direct thoughts to Him.
(2), we journaled our most deep feelings of our life experiences and placed them   at the feet of Jesus and let Him carry the burden and read all this back out loud to our minds in a private place. Do this as often as the need arises in your life until all the roots of bitterness are gone and you are free.

the next segment...The scriptures and SOP are the back up ...

Quote
Ephesians 5: 26: That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27: That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Our minds are corrupted with sin and we need to be cleansed.  Washing with water through the word cleanses our minds.  Remember how Jesus cleansed the temple?  He can do it for our temples too.

Quote
John4: 10: Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.13: Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:14: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15: The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
(woman at the well)

Isn't this what we all want?  Isn't this our battle cry?  ..... "Sir, give me this water?"

Quote
Luke, chapter 24"32": And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Quote
All we have to do is to submit the will to God, to place the will on the Lord's side. Come and take the Lord at his word, and drink of the water of life freely.  {BEcho, July 1, 2025 par. 6}

Quote
Romans 10: "17": So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This is a popular verse and we all know it.  But, do we apply it?

Step (3) When you read your bibles read it out loud to self and go slow and meditate (medicate the mind) the on each word.

Step (4) Memorizing scripture

Just to review a bit:

1) Praise God for what He has done for humans on this earth and get self out of the picture.

2) Journal prayers and read it back to self/mind to get the root of bitterness out and place it all at the feet of Jesus.  Destroy them as this is private between you and God.  Continue journaling when it is necessary.  This is when something has really hurt you or you have forgotten to pray.... pick up the pen and get back to the habit of journaling.  Do this in the a.m. and p.m. at least.

3) Persistent prayers of a seeking nature to get self out like Elijah did...

4) Read your bible at least an hour a day... out loud if you can and slowly medicating the mind and ask for the HS of God to help you understand.

5) Memorize scripture and put it into your mind continually and soon your speech will be paraphrase of scripture and your thoughts will be of scripture and it will push out unwanted thoughts.

Quote
Lev. 23:27: Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 28: And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. 29: For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.

6)  We are living in the antitypical day of atonement.  As spiritual Israel we should be afflicting our souls and offering ourselves as a 'living sacrifice' as Paul says.  The trumpets blew announcing that in 10 days there would be a judgment.  The people started cleansing themselves during that time.  They would put away anything that was not of God and were careful in the food that they ate...  no leavening.    We are to afflict our souls and pray with the mind of Jesus.  We are to pray a prayer of deep affliction and repentance.  These sins will ascend and be burned as a sweet savor to the Father because when probation closes, those sins will be blotted out forever.

Quote
Phil 2:5  5: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Cleanse our bodies of anything that is not of God.

Quote
Gen. 1:29: And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat
.

Quote
Ezra 8:21,23 21: Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 23: So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

Quote
Joel,  2"12": Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

7)  Fasting and praying.  Once we have given up food our minds are clear for the indwelling of the HS of God for better understanding and mindful prayers given to God.  This is just a fast from food and not water or clean liquids.  One can fast once a week and still be fine.  I have chosen the Sabbath for a fast but you decide what works for you.  I know that there are some that cannot fast due to medical reasons but a raw food diet can clear the mind very similar to a fast.  I have several days before the Sabbath that I eat only raw food.  The rest of the time try to have 50% raw for the digestive enzymes.

Once the victory over appetite is attained, many smaller habits that were bothersome will now be easy to give up.  This is the key to overcoming many things that are not of God.  When the mind is clear, the words of the bible will just jump off the page  and into your mind and they will shine with a luster.  The truth therein, will sanctify and make communion with God so much closer and peaceful and refreshing.

To all my forum friends,

This is my last installment of what I have found out in ways to learn to walk as Jesus walked and to have His mind in you.  God Bless you all as you go through this journey...  :)  And, I hope to see you all real soon on that narrow path up to Jesus in the clouds.

Praise God for you will know a peace that passes all understanding when you first start to do this.  Remember that when you first do this bring up everything to Jesus that has ever bothered or hurt you through out your whole life.  Then read it back to your mind OUT LOUD but to yourself.  Then, lay it all at the feet of Jesus and he will put a lock and key on it.  Then, destroy those private special words.

In this day and age it has become fashionable to deny truth. Think with me, people cheat on there wives and they feel like they are in good company. Most people in holywood, Capitol Hill, and people who live next door to us are working on their second and third marages.  Part of being cool at age 50 and 60 is to have a girlfriend or "Fling" as they call it...We can no longer point the finger and say this is what the world is doing--it's now going on in church. (I wont give any examples on this  because I love my church dispit what goes on--I will die an SDA)The eternal security in what God demands is being neglected through appeals for peace, unity and tolerance. There are people who are trying to make God hip, cool and down to earth. Just this past weekend I saw a group "The Call" on the National Mall they were advocating peace and unity. But they were blasting the speakers with Rock music...that was "cool" and attracted young people. Sometimes I see this stuff going on in the world and my eye's get full of tears. What's on the other side of this generation?
