Does anyone have any counsel as to what a parent should do whose teen is sassy and otherwise uncooperative? Is there a difference if the teen is 14 as opposed to 17?

It's not so easy to deal with if it has not been solved by the time they reach the teens. Prayer, rationally reasoning with them, protecting them from others whom they probably got this from, gaining respect by caring for, doing with, and praying for... them. I believe every avenue of the enemy must be cut off. Cutting back some gratiifcations and leisure time and replacing them with productive work can also help.
