TV is it Christian entertainment ?
« on: September 15, 2015, 01:39:14 PM »
Scott Ritsema share on his Media on the Brain presentation that there is essentially no good public tv as we know it.

Even if there was a program that had all good content the very dynamics of TV is detrimental to the brain. The rapid scene change and its hypnotic effect dulls and hinders the frontal lobe development while over stimulating the limbic part of the brain, the part of the brain that tends to react and often over react without the direction of the frontal lobe. In other words, the physics and dynamics of TV themselves  produces an imbalance in the brain. It is almost impossible to find ANY TV that does not use the rapid scene change that shifts about every 3-5 seconds. The frontal lobe cannot process that fast and the brain goes into alpha/ hypnotic type trance where the brain is very open to suggestion. TV advertisers understand how this works and how they can change the behavior of people through mental manipulation via the avenue of the TV. Many in TV have a goal and they have mastered the science of controlling minds.

Only because it was based on a true story.  Inn of the 6th Happiness was similar--based on a true story, but Gladys Aylward was not happy because they threw in a romantic bit about her and a Chinese officer, which was a pure fabrication.  Amazing Grace was one of the best I've ever seen.  They couldn't fudge it too much because the story itself was so compelling, and they had the records from Parliament to consult for accuracy.  It was more documentary than movie--sort of like March of the Penguins.  You can see what kinds of flicks I purchase.  :-D  I'm a bird brain and a quasi history buff.  But you couldn't pay me enough to go sit with penguins in Antarctica--in their winter.  :uhoh:

Yes, I liked the Inn of the 6th Happiness... went out and read the real story after that... I think it was called 'the small woman' or something like that...

have not seen the other two...

I gave it up for two weeks and now I cannot go back...even the news is not really news... the commercials are terrible...  flash flash flash, bang bang bang...  it makes me nuts, can't watch...the talk shows are filled with critical nature stuff and gets you into a mode of pointing fingers and there are so many minced oaths and swearing now that they allow...  oh please, give it up... by beholding you become changed
