Inspired shopping list?
« on: August 25, 2017, 07:14:13 PM »
Though I am not sure that it was ever meant to be that Mrs. White's shopping list of things to get at the store was to be considered divine revelation, or even if she might not have always practiced in her personal life what she counseled others to do, does this make her ministry invalid or uninspired?

I respect Billy Graham, Chuck Swindoll and Max Lucado. But when it comes to applying Biblical principles and interpreting last day prophecies, I will cast my lot any day with the inspired writings of Ellen G. White.

Ellen White was inspired by God to give messages to the church and sometimes individuals.  That does not make everything she wrote inspired like shopping lists or even personal correspondence.   And being God's messenger did not make her a sinless person.  She struggled with overcoming her will just as we do.  That is the wonderful thing about the stories of people God used to do His work in the Bible.  They were real people that failed, repented and surrendered to God's will anew.  A great example and encouragement to us today.

Pastor,
If shopping lists are not to be considered divine revelation, then how do you determine what is divine revelation?
Just a question. I don't mean to be contentious.

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isa 8:20
