Third angel's message

 14:9   And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 
 14:10   The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 
 14:11   And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 

These verses are not easy to interpret and I've heard numerous explanations for them.



First on more obvious ground --
This message is linked with the end time crises when the "earth beast" pf Revelation 13 works with the sea beast, and the mark of the beast is being is being enforced.

What is the wrath of God poured out without mercy?

How is it "poured out"?

And how do we explain the "torment" no rest "day or night" and the "forever" clause?

The Third angel - the one with the message of the righteousnesses by faith in Christ and avowing His ( Christ's ) ownership of them, who warns of God's legal response to those who avow either Christ's ownership unto overcoming and salvation; or avows Satan's ownership unto the legal penalty of destruction after drinking in the full sentence for their crimes .

Wrath of God -
1st - it is not His pleasure - God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked - Ezekiel 33:11.

2nd - wages of sin ='s death Romans Romans 6:23 - the verse does not say endless torture

3rd -  God rewards deeds - Matthew 16:27; Revelation 22:12

4th- The deeds legally recompensed as to their goodness or badness are recorded in God's Books and go through Heaven's Court System of official governance - Daniel 7:10; Revelation 20:12

5th - all rewards and punishment are according to God's Law (punishment ), and mercy (reward )  -  Jeremiah 26:4-6 ; Amos 2:4 ; Jeremiah 16:11-13;  Titus 3:5

6th - legally awarded punishment to Satan, his angels who also rebelled, and all his human followers - Matthew 25:41; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8; Matthew 18:23-35 Lucifer caused sin and sinning and will be delivered to torment till he pays the entire legal price for his sins, the same principles apply to his followers.  Matthew 5:25-26.

John 3:16 is God's remedy so as not to perish, Satan's fate is to perish as a direct result of God enforcing the penalty. Ezekiel 28: 16-19; Revelation 20:7-10.

The Bible Writer methods of writing is to give the headline, then drop back and show the process of getting to the headline. 

The Headline is verses 7-9
7  And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8  And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9  And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

The process that leads up to being devoured by fire from God is verse ten.

10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Jude 1:7  Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them were covered by a wave of what Scripture calls eternal fire, but they are not burning now, but they are still ashes , the smoke of their torment ( the results of the fire & being turned into ashes still remains. )

for ever and ever is a phrase defined by context, referring to the eternal God is means unending, referring to what is devoured and turned into ashes it means as long as they last while drink the entire cup of the legal sentence of punishment for sin, until being allowed to cease to exist once once they drank their individual cup of all the sentence for their sins remaining in God's books.

Psalms 52:9  I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
( That is not eternal but for one lifetime because the dead praise not the lord. )


Ecclesiastes 9:6  Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.     ( The wait till the Last Day - The dead do not stay dead endlessly )

Mercy is the life of Christ, Calvary, and the Intercession of Christ and His Atonement process offered to God in vicarious substitution for the sinner who still can respond to God.  The door of mercy was shut for the 5 foolish virgins, Lucifer's door of mercy was shut before he was exiled from Heaven.

The sons of Eli & Eli could not be atoned for ( they knew too much and rebelled too long and were hardened in their sins. )
